Make my folders look more like windows!

First of all allow me to apologize. I do not believe that windows is better than Mac but I do enjoy some of the features that I had gotten used to before my switch.
XP allows me to customize my folders. Windows folders can have a picture representing what is inside of the folder in addition to the text description. Mac folders are plain blue with only the text to describe what is inside.
Is there any way to put a picture on Mac folders like I can in windows?
Thank you and I am sorry if I have offended anyone. 🙂

If you want to put a picture on to your folder,
1. Simply copy the the picture you want by using command-c
2. then click on the folder you wish to put the picture on
3. get info on the folder, by clicking on it and going command-I or right-click (ctrl click) and click on get-info
4.when you have done that, click on the folder icon in the get info window and paste the picture, command-v

you may have to do paste it a couple of times before it works, but it should do it automatically.

Hope that helps, plz click on helpful or solved if it helps or solves your problem thanks

Make my picture files look more like windows!
Ok, here is what is up. The suggestion that Pfolk gave is awesome and it works great but it only solves have of the problem.
Thumbnails now replace the blue folder icons, but when the folder is opened all the files look exactly the same.
Images open with preview so that is what you see.
How can I set it up so I see a thumbnail instead? Like the enclosing folder?
Thanks again!
