Best to only post once. You have duplicate post over in DVD SP.

As to updates, only Apple knows. NAB2007 is in April.

There are no differences between the programs.

You can use the academic license as you wish; it is not restricted to academic purposes.

I do not believe that you qualify for full upgrades, but dot 1 downloads are permitted.

Other than that, you can use it for commercial purposes without any license violation.

Actually, you can't. Not legally anyway. That's the purpose of the academic version: To learn/experiment. Not to make money with. I'm not saying I'm blind to the fact that people use the academic version for commercial purposes anyway, but there's two probs with that:

1. It's illegal.
2. You can't upgrade the academic version, so you're losing out on the versions people here will be answering help questions about. Don't be one of the people saying "I don't have that new version so I can't do that" when people give you help ideas.

Just buy the academic version and get the crossgrade (if the offer is still valid). That way you can upgrade...at a cheaper price.

Read the license agreement synergy1.

There is NO RESTRICTION on using academic versions.

None.

"Academic Copies: If the Apple Software package has an academic label or if you acquired the Apple Software at an academic discount, you must be an
Eligible Educational End User to use the Apple Software. "Eligible Educational End Users" means students, faculty, staff and administration attending and/
or working at an educational institutional facility (i.e., college campus, public or private K-12 schools). "

"2. Permitted License Uses and Restrictions. This License allows you to install and use one copy of the Apple Software on one Apple-labeled desktop
computer and one Apple-labeled laptop computer so long as both computers are owned and used by you. This includes the right to transfer your copy of
the Apple Software licensed hereunder from an Apple G4 hardware platform to an Apple G5 platform. "

This is a common misconception.
