DOSBox under Mac OS X ?

I love the old MS-DOS games, and I've just heard about DOSBox, a free DOS-emulator that can apparently run under OS X.

Does anyone have any experience of running DOSBox with OS 10.4? (PowerMac G5). - Does it work well? Can old PC DOS games be installed and run adequately on a Mac this way?

Or does it muck up your system and cause problems?

I've had some pretty good success with it.
I use the Intel version, but have heard that the PPC version runs just as well.

There are a number of abandonware sites for those old DOS classics, so I get my games from there. Download into a folder, launch DOSBox, and then navigate to the folder and run.
