ati radeon 9800 pro 256 mb for older G5s?

So I just bought one of these on eBay for like $250 (the mac editions are still pretty pricey), and I install it into my AGP slot... it supplies power to the monitor, but nothing appears on the screen. I brought it to my local Mac store, and they said it's probably the card itself. Does anyone know if these cards are compatible with the 2003 release of the G5s (2.0 ghz)

Here is the card:

and here is my computer:

Please someone tell me that I'm not being an absolute moron here, this is driving me insaaaane.

G5 2.0 GHz, Mac OS X (10.4.9)

Hi

When you say it supplies power to the monitor, does the graphics card have an ADC connector which provides the video signal, power and USB? As far as I'm aware the only 9800 with an ADC connector was the G5 compatible version, in which case the card should work.

The card you've linked to doesn't have the ADC connector and may be a different version of the 9800. As far as I'm aware there have been at least three different versions - a 128MB 2x/4x AGP G4 version, a 256MB 8x AGP G5 version with an ADC connector, and a newer 256MB 2x/4x AGP G4/G5 version without an ADC connector that replaces the previous two.

I recently bought this same card for my MDD G4 and it does not work, beware of ebay video cards.

I installed this card, and shortly after power up I have strange blue vertical lines on my display and after about 4-5 minutes of use I have strange error pixels dancing across my screen before multiplying and covering the entrie screen followed shortly after by a black screen. Upon power down and case opening this card is very very hot. I am currently investigating the fan on the card, perhaps replacing it since it is very cheap, then asking for a refund and filing a complaint/petition on ebay.

Anyone else have a simlar story?
