Drag URL to dock in Firefox

I tried this post on the Firefox forums but no one had an answer. Is it possible to drag a URL to the dock like you can in Safari? I know I can drag to the desktop but the whole point is to have a quick link on the dock when I have a ton of windows open.

but Firefox is not available in the list of
applications for some reason.

If Firefox doesn't appear on the list you'd need to browse to it. In Safari Preferences > Default Web Browser, choose "Select" from the drop-down box. From the resulting screen browse through your HD until you find Firefox -- if Firefox was installed properly it should reside in the Applications folder. Once you locate it, click the Select button. See if that works. Good luck!

It's on the list, but for some reason you can't choose it. Just as an example, if you press "command I" on a Photoshop file, "open with", then "other". In the list of applications, there are some that can open a photoshop file (Imageready, Illustrator, etc.) and those that can't (Garageband, Address Book, etc) are faded in color and you can't choose them. For some reason, in the example in my previous post, Firefox can't be chosen to open the file by default. I must be looking at this from the wrong angle or maybe I should just switch to Camino...

That might happen if you have "Recommended Applications" enabled in your finder window rather than "All Applications." Toward the top of a Choose Other Application window, look for the Enable drop-down menu and select "All Applications." All applications on the list should then become available. Of course, there's no guarantee a given application would be able to open a particular file; you'll get an alert if it can't. But at least it's become active for you to choose from so you can try.

Be that as it may, you shouldn't need to perform a Get Info on Firefox to select it as your default web browser in Safari Preferences. So that's a mystery. Are there other browsers on the list from which you can choose? Is Firefox installed in your Applications folder? Need a bit more information.

You might also try the solution offerred in this thread. Post back...
