Ok so I now own a new Macbook and just tried to install the Adobe Illustrator 10 but it just crashes and fails when I try to install it. I know the disks are fine because I have installed it on my Quicksilver G4 with the Tiger as well, have never had a problem installing till getting this new Macbook.
I get to the part of installing the serial key then it just crashes. As well my G4 does not have the Classic environment either and still installs perfectly.
Any ideas as to why it will not work?
Thanks
PowerMac QuickSilver 733,
Mac OS X (10.4.9),
Macbook ~ 2Ghz ~ 160GB ~ Tigercharged
the same thing happens to me! i had it installed before, worked fine. but this past week it won't open. it just gives me errors. my friend has been having the same problem.
I am using Illustrator 11 and it works just fine. Not sure exactly what the difference is between 10 and 11 since I have only had 11 since working with AdobeCS.
1). Microsoft has nothing to do with it. Microsoft supplies only the "operating system". They don't build PC's and just because Macs use the Intel cpu doesn't mean it's a DELL. Apple still uses their custom hardware and firmware to run their own operating system on their products. It's Adobe and the other software developers that need to supply the native software.
2). Apple, Inc decided to switch to intel, so the PowerPC days are over. Bill Gates doesn't run Apple. Steve Jobs does. People, live with it.
You don't understand my point. If there were no Intel based chip, installation would be fine was what I am getting at. Your both actually correct though, I'm blaming the wrong company, my apologies to Microsoft, the 2 members who posted regarding Microsoft is not at fault are 100% correct. But we will definitely not see a patch from Adobe and since PS7 was a completely new cocoa app but Illustrator was merely ported over, hence the reason PS7 installs perfectly.
But at least the migration wizard does a good job an actually installs Illustrator 10 and it works perfectly.
I have a MacPro and a Macbook. I have no problems running Adobe software. But I don't use CPU meters, stopwatches, fan diagnotics, heat sensors either to check my Macbook every hour, So I'm not too concerned if it's 2 seconds slower.
