ipod stuck on "Enter code to Unlock" ...HELP PLEASE

My daughter was playing with our 30GB 5th Generation Ipod & said "oh no"...showed it to me & it is stuck with a photo of a combination lock where you enter 4 numbers, & on the top says "enter code to unlock". We have never set any code so am I just stuck? I tired resetting it but no luck. I can't get it out of this area & have no clue what the code would be. Does anyone have any advise for me?

I have the same problem as most....ENTER CODE with a 4 digit boxey thing and a vault I've tried the whole disconnect from computer thing and it doesn't work. So then I thought that if I just saved the songs on my ipod to the Itunes library, reset it, then put them back it would be fine but I can't put the songs on my ipod to the itunes library!! help please???

Connect iPod to the computer you normally use it with (the first one that the iPod synced with) and open iTunes. Then disconnect the iPod from the computer and it should no longer be locked.

If that doesn't work, you'll need to restore it.

As far as I am aware, there is no factory default, at least none that I've ever encountered. A code may have been entered inadvertently.

Follow the instructions above to unlock it.

Have you seen the posts above? (scroll up this thread page to the top to see the posts)

Jeff has already explained what to do when you see the "Enter Code" screen on your iPod.

I have the same problem. So what exactly does the ipod use for a four digit code when none has been entered? shouldn't their be a "factory defualt" entry...like...say....1111?

ENTER CODE.
I DO NOT KNOW WHAT IS THIS CODE.
