Do USB/MIDI Cables work on Garageband?

You need to get a MIDI interface. Look here:

I was going to buy the M-AUDIO USB Midisport Uno
MIDI Interface. Thats what I meant by MIDI/USB cable.
Does it work with garageband?

You can use the MIDI/USB interface to send MIDI only to GarageBand. This works.
(If you want to record the audio from your keyboard, you'll need an audio interface.)

I bought an Audiophile USB and have midi cables connected to my midi keyboard, but garageband does not seem to recognize the midi keyboard or so it says.
The Audiophile is recognized in the system preerances where it has an icon and I have set it for analog input and output but S/idf.
Could ther be a problem with this setup?

You have set up the audio: in order to use MIDI to drive GarageBand you need to set up the MIDI in 'Audio Midi Setup': please see this page:
