built-in iSight in black & white mode while my external USB webcam is color

I don't know what I did or how to undo it...

My external USB webcam is fine and in color...

The built-in MacBook Pro is now in black and white...how can I make if color again?

Thanks, --bill

Hello --bill

Disconnect your USB Webcam and try all of Apple's suggestions re: Built-in iSight in How to Troubleshoot iSight.

By the way, if you need to post back because the troubleshooting suggestions do not help, please answer a few questions.

(1) Is your OS X Maintenance up to date?

(2) Is the problem the same for all applications and user names you tried?

(3) Are you using iChatUSBCam, iGlasses, or some other third-party app that might have been set to display this effect?

(4) Is your system info correct that you are running 10.4.8?

(When you decide to update to 10.4.9, a few iNtel Mac users have reported missing data after the update, so you should consider backing-up your MBP's Home Folder, or at least your MBP's important data, before updating.)

Thanks for the suggestion Jim...but...sigh...it didn't work...here are the answers to you queries.

1. 10.4.9

2. iChat = black and white
QuickTime = B&W
iMovie = B&W
SKYPE - can't figure out how to test the camera

3. I have iGlasses but when I click on iGlasses I get a iGlasses Manager...with a long listing of apps with check boxes.

4. I have 10.4.9

UGH!

thanks for any additional suggestions/thoughts

You're welcome, bill

(1) In this question, I was asking about Mac OS X Maintenance.&ensp:Do you preform regular maintenance, and have you run your maintenance routine recently?

(2) You can test the camera by launching Skype and looking at the image in Skype > Preferences... > Video.

You did not mention whether the problem persists when you try iSight using a different user account.&ensp:What were those results?

(3) Use Kne's suggestion for checking iGlasses settings in iChat.

(4) What do you mean, "UGH!"?

We will try to provide more specific suggestions based on your answers.

Cheers,
Jim
