Wave Dissolve/Dream Sequence Transition

Hello all! I desperately need to find a wave dissolve transition (as seen in Wayne's World...the cheesy wavy 'dream sequence/flashback' transition) for iMovie. I've seen one for Final Cut and Virtix (now defunct) has one for older versions of iMovie. I've scoured Google with no results. Please help!

Thanks for the suggestions Klaus & Sue, but I still haven't found what I'm looking for. GeeThree has a ton of great effects and transitions...just not the one I need for this project (though if I worked on more video, I could definitely see myself picking up a few of their Slick volumes). The Mix & Blend plug-in from imovieplugins.com gave me an error message. Wave dissolve seems like such a commonly seen transition...puzzling that it's so hard to find a plug-in for it. Looks like my best bet is to either learn to build my own plug-ins or scrap the scene I had planned!

David,

Seems like Virtix is back in business(site must've been down for a couple weeks ?). I just visited their site. I think you want the Echo package with the "Dream" plugin. I don't know if the plugins are compatible with iMovie 6 (they just show iMovie 4). I don't think they've updated their plugins since 2004 or 2005

If not contact imovieplugins.com

"custom-built plug-ins/effects for iMovie
do you need a certain effect but can't find the plug-in for it? are you losing precious time by repeatedly applying the same chain of effects over and over again? perhaps you can save your project (and yourself) some time, nerves, and money by having us produce a custom-curtailed plug-in. depending on the complexity of the problem, these plugs can be produced quickly, and at very low cost to you - sometimes almost for free. please contact us for more information.

Good luck

Here's what cf/x had to say:

"Dear David Rogers,

thank you for your message, and enquiry. The reason you don't see many
ripple effects from third party companies is that iMovie 6 has the 'Ripple'
transition that is pretty much what you may be looking for. As to our
ability to provide custom plug-ins we unfortunately currently can't accept
new clients as our order books are full, and we are fully engaged with the
Intel transition.

Kind regards from Zürich,

cf/x"

Hmm. The Ripple is pretty much not what I'm looking for (otherwise I would have just used it--since I have it--instead of attempting to pay someone to make it for me).

On a good note: they did email me back very quickly, so thanks to cf/x for that.

David,

4/3/07 I took the liberty of contacting Virtix regarding updates/upgrades to their plugins (I own a couple myself).

Still waiting, if I hear anything I'll post back.

I think the Dream effect is more of a swiggle than a ripple. -:).

PS. If you have an older version of iMovie (version 1 thru 4) on your system you could use the virtix plugin.

I've read some post where iMovie version 3.03 is still a free download. Now installing it on your system may be a bit tricky with iMovie 6.

Maybe others that have several version on their systems can offer advice.

I doubt you'll hear anything back from Virtix...the website may be up, but it looks like it hasn't been updated since 2002. Too bad, 'dream' is exactly what I was looking for, ripple, swiggle, whatever you call it! 🙂 On a side note, I cancelled the project I needed the effect for. I'd still like to find one for next time though! Please do let me know if you hear back from Virtix.
