What's te pros & cons with DVI vs. VGA

hi all

Just curious but I know this is obvious, DVI is better than VGA but what's the difference and why will 99% of people go for DVI over VGA? My Mac-Mini came with the the DVI/VGA adapter which I connected my LCD vga monitor to it. Looks ok.

But should I go for gold and get a dvi monitor?

Thanks for your help,
Web dude

With DVI, being digital, you have a purely digital connection between the video card and monitor. Consequently each pixel shown on the monitor is exactly the same as the 'pixel' in the frame buffer held in the video card's VRAM. Therefore the image you see on the monitor is exactly as it was rendered by the OS and intended to be seen. With VGA, a digital to analogue conversion takes place via the graphics card, which can introduce artifacts. DVI monitors also tend to have less manual controls, typically just brightness, as no other controls to correct or adjust the image are needed.
