What's te pros & cons with DVI vs. VGA

With DVI, each pixel is controlled independently. With VGA, a pixel can be affected by the pixels to its left or right. For video or photos you won't notice the difference, but it may cause some blurring with text or graphics with sharp edges.

DVI is also an all digital connection while VGA is an analog connection. SInce it's analog, the video signal from your computer has to go from digital to analog back to digital again, degrading performance. Don't know how the pricing compares, though.

With DVI, being digital, you have a purely digital connection between the video card and monitor. Consequently each pixel shown on the monitor is exactly the same as the 'pixel' in the frame buffer held in the video card's VRAM. Therefore the image you see on the monitor is exactly as it was rendered by the OS and intended to be seen. With VGA, a digital to analogue conversion takes place via the graphics card, which can introduce artifacts. DVI monitors also tend to have less manual controls, typically just brightness, as no other controls to correct or adjust the image are needed.
