Network connection timed out.

I'm unable to successfully use the iTunes Store. The following error occurs randomly, though it most often happen when searching and power searching, the progress bar on top will just never stop and the error message will display after about 30 seconds. It sometimes occur when browsing and clicking on links (the page will not load).

Here's the error message :
"We could not complete your iTunes Store request. The network connection timed out.
Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active, then try again."

My internet connection is fine, I'm 100% positive about that. Unless it would have to do with firewall settings?

Something weird I've noticed about all this is that the error seems to happen way more often when searching on less known artists/songs than well know.

I'm using Windows Vista.

Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks!

Today is the first time that I noticed the problem. (I don't search the store very often.) My daughter tells me, though, that she has had the problem for at least a week.

I wonder if the problem is somehow browser related, since itunes utilizes cookies. I am using Firefox. Are any of the others that are suffering the problem Firefox users?

I have had the same problem all day, trying to access iTunes Store on this pc and a lap top. I have removed the software and reinstalled but it made no difference.

I am also having prolems with "Gracenote" when looking for song names. It says, "The song names for this CD could not be found online." However, when I went on it from internet explorer, it found it no problem, I therefore assume both problems lie with iTunes and it's connectivity to the internet. My workaround is slow but works, load your CD into the pc via windows media, then import them to iTunes.

I may have found a work-around. As I mentioned in a previous post, I am a Firefox user (and there was a Firefox update in the last week or so). I exited itunes, then opened IE7 and reloaded itunes. Then I was able to search on the store just fine. I fired up Firefox (while leaving IE7 open), and was still able to search on the itunes store. Then I closed IE7, and all was still fine. Then I exited itunes, and reopened it. This was the ultimate test, since IE7 was not open. I was still able to search on the itunes store. I have no idea why this worked but, at least for now, everything seems to be working again. Very strange!

Hey,

Thank you for the hint, I don't have firefox but I do have the new IE, so I tried opening IE before opening iTunes and it worked (for now). It much slower than usual, but that maybe a problem with my ISP as much as anything.

Seems I was on the correct thread after all.

Thanks again!

I had to swap out my computer at Best Buy. They replaced it so I downloaded ITunes and have been having the same issue.

I was on the phone for over an hour with ITunes support. Bottom line we checked for every issue, then I unistalled and reinstalled the 702 version, the one I was using before the new one. It still does NOT owrk. Same error message.

Next step to contact Microsoft. If that does not work I am bring computer back again.

Please if anyone finds a solution please let me know.

I am so frustrated!!!!!!

Sorry, no solution... I am getting the same problem when searching for less popular artists. For example, search on "Bowie" (David Bowie) is fine, but a search on "Enzo Enzo" gives me the setwork connection timed out error. This has started happening relatively recently for me. Perhaps we should seek what we have in common. I use XP Pro and IE 7. I have been getting other (probably unrelated but one never knows) issues recently since installing Visual Studio. Would be really greatful if someone does come up with a solution....
