Network connection timed out.

I'm unable to successfully use the iTunes Store. The following error occurs randomly, though it most often happen when searching and power searching, the progress bar on top will just never stop and the error message will display after about 30 seconds. It sometimes occur when browsing and clicking on links (the page will not load).

Here's the error message :
"We could not complete your iTunes Store request. The network connection timed out.
Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active, then try again."

My internet connection is fine, I'm 100% positive about that. Unless it would have to do with firewall settings?

Something weird I've noticed about all this is that the error seems to happen way more often when searching on less known artists/songs than well know.

I'm using Windows Vista.

Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks!

Hello guys and girls,
The way I see it is Apple doesn't really give a crap about the problem we are all sharing or the mutual stress and irritation we are all going through. If they really cared, don't you think some Apple official would have made a reply on this forum by now? No, and the reason is they don't know what the **** is going on, and they are too high on their horse to at least tell us they are clueless and don't know themselves what is causing this mass problem. So, my recommendation is y'all try Rhapsody (Apple's competitor). Cause at least their music search works and they got their stuff together. Good luck y'all. Pray for me that the powerful forces of Apple don't come down upon me for pointing out their already obvious flaws!

Well, one last comment before y'all go check out the Rhapsody site. I just noticed that if you just type in the artist(s) name in the power search section and then hit the search button, it will work. You just have to put the songs in alpabetical order to find the one you're looking for. Like for example, I've been looking for one of the new Deftones songs, "Mein". In the power search section I was putting in "Deftones" under Artist, and "Mein" under Song, and when I would click Search I would get the annoying message we are all quickly growing to dispise. So I just typed "Deftones" under Artist, and left the Song area blank, and then when I clicked Search every Deftones song appeared just like that, no wait time. And all I had to do was click the "Name" bar to alpha the songs, and there was "Mein" right in the M's. Hope this helped for now till those Apple guys get their butts in gear. 🙂

I found a solution by accident...try this

Flush DNS Setting in Windows
In some cases, the DNS information you computer uses to connect to the internet needs to be reset. Follow these instructions to flush your Windows DNS information:

On the Start menu, click Run
In the Open field type cmd and click OK.
In the resulting window, type ipconfig /flushdns and press Return on the keyboard.
You should see a message that the DNS Resolver Cache has been successfully flushed.

How many people in this string have contacted Apple? I did, and recently got a response asking me for more information about my connection, etc. I won't be able to respond until I get home, but I suspect that the more people who complain the less likely it is that we will get brushed off as people who must be doing something wrong or have unusual set-ups.

Bottom line -- everyone who is having trouble should report it to Apple.

I have contacted them and explicitly told them that the problem is on their side, but unfortunately they will probably not take it seriously.
