Network connection timed out.

I'm unable to successfully use the iTunes Store. The following error occurs randomly, though it most often happen when searching and power searching, the progress bar on top will just never stop and the error message will display after about 30 seconds. It sometimes occur when browsing and clicking on links (the page will not load).

Here's the error message :
"We could not complete your iTunes Store request. The network connection timed out.
Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active, then try again."

My internet connection is fine, I'm 100% positive about that. Unless it would have to do with firewall settings?

Something weird I've noticed about all this is that the error seems to happen way more often when searching on less known artists/songs than well know.

I'm using Windows Vista.

Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks!

I sent an email in regards to this as well but did not get a response as yet. Last night, I tried some of the suggestions such as opening my browser(IE7) first and macking sure quicktime was running. I had better results searching, in that many of the bands I had timeouts on before were now coming up. I did have a network time out on Bob Seger (and a couple of others) but I don't think he's available on itunes. I'll try more tonight and see how it goes......4h34d, thanks for getting this going

It has been 2 weeks and i still have this problem. I have itunes version 7.0 so it can't be the new version that's the problem. I think itunes just messed everything up at the beginning of April, since everyone has been having problems since then. I bought 4 songs weeks ago and they have yet to be downloaded. They just won't download! I keep getting errors 3259 and 100008, or it just sits there not making any progress at all. I can't even access the itunes store, not just when i'm searching. I can't get on it at all!

1 week ago i sent an email to apple about their horrible customer service, they say they will reply in 24 hours. They still haven't replied back to me. I'll send another email and this time include the url of this topic. Maybe they'll actually figure out that nothing is working!

Meanwhile, I suggest everyone go to some other music sites to get their songs, like rhapsody or emusic. Then send an email stating that a lot of people are doing that, and the url of this topic. I mean, when the itunes store doesn't work, how can we buy songs? Which means they don't make any money! Maybe then they'll fix the problem.

I also suggest this to the apple employees:
GET OFF YOUR LAZY BUTTS AND FIX THE PROBLEM!!!!

I had some connection issues about a week or two ago, but they have cleared up completely by now. It's possible that there may be a software conflict that's keeping you from connecting to/downloading from the iTunes Store properly. If you ever get an error 3259, you should always try the steps in this article to check for software conflicts:

I'm noticing a trend where the people experiencing these connection/searching errors are connecting to the internet via a network of some sort (business, home, or whichever); however, I don't see much mention of an attempt to connect directly to their ISP (internet service provider). This means connecting via no use of a router or such.

Has anyone tried connecting directly to their broadband connection, temporarily disabling the network in the process, and seeing if the issue clears?

If not, can we start a list of the ISPs being used for users that are having these issues?

I recently installed Vista Ultimate and ITunes 7.1.1.5. I cannot access the ITunes Music store unless I run ITunes in compatability mode using Windows XP SP2. I did try turning off the Windows Firewall, but still got the error. I am running Trend Micro OfficeScan Anti-virus software.

The error is:

ITunes could not connect to the ITunes Store. The network connection timed out.
Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active, then try again.

I have not experienced any download issues at all from either this latest version of iTunes or any of the previous versions. This to me indicates that the issue is related to some sort of software conflict or soemthing that is interfering with iTunes. To the reader who posted that firewalls, pop-up blockers etc. don't have any affect on iTunes, you are very very sadly mistaken. These types of software wreac havoc on iTunes Store downloads and connection.

To everyone who is having this issue, I suggest uninstalling your firewall programs, turning off windows firewall, plug directly in to your internet connection, then try the store. I'm willing to bet you'll be surprised to find out that it was YOUR computer that was messed up and not the iTunes Store.

Like I said, I've never had any issues with the iTunes Store, downloads or anything, so it definately is not something wrong with the software.

Kudos Apple, I'm loving the downloads, keep it up guys !!!
