Network connection timed out.

I'm unable to successfully use the iTunes Store. The following error occurs randomly, though it most often happen when searching and power searching, the progress bar on top will just never stop and the error message will display after about 30 seconds. It sometimes occur when browsing and clicking on links (the page will not load).

Here's the error message :
"We could not complete your iTunes Store request. The network connection timed out.
Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active, then try again."

My internet connection is fine, I'm 100% positive about that. Unless it would have to do with firewall settings?

Something weird I've noticed about all this is that the error seems to happen way more often when searching on less known artists/songs than well know.

I'm using Windows Vista.

Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks!

I updated Itunes thinking it would help the "network connection time out" issue, when I searched for obscure artists. Heck it would not even find artists that I had downloaded just a week ago. But I did what it said to do in my LAN settings and it seems to work. Hope it last a while. Here is the link. Good Luck

I've been having the same problem as everyone. Just adding my two cents to make it one more reply so maybe Apple open their eyes. You know Apple many people on itunes are DJs and electronic musicians, and you know Mac is the material of choice for electronic music creators, don't disappoint us... we are giving you lots of money from buying your song AND your material and word of mouth goes fast in the elctronic music world

As for me, I'm having the same issues. I have McAfee firewall and I've had itunes for awhile. So i'm pretty sure it isn't my firewall settings. But I'm also pretty sure it isn't the new version of itunes that's the problem either. I have itunes 7.0.2.16 and all the sudden none of my music will download & i can't access the itunes store. My network connection is fine too! Gosh, i'm so AGGRAVATED!!! It's been like that for days!!!!!!! grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr....

Me again. I just read on another thread related to
the same issue that Apple started tellong people that
they were aware of the situation and working on a
fix... Did anyone receive anything rectnly to confirm
that ?

Hello, I have gotten the same message. This is my first time to visit this thread, and I am very pleased to know I'm in good company.

I have a little information that may help. I am running the latest(?) version of iTunes (7.1.1.5) and experience the Problem usually once a day now. I have iTunes 6 on a laptop, so I decided to perform the exact same searches that caused a problem on v. 7.1.1.5. What happens is that the more obscure searches (e.g., "Arthur Grumiaux") time out in v.7 but don't in v.6. They just take a really long time to complete.

This leads me to believe that Apple did something in v.7 to end a search after x seconds. There appears to be no way to make it stop timing out.

I didn't notice if some of the posts were from Mac users. After I post this I'll check on that. I have a friend with a Mac, and the next time I have a problem I will call him and ask him to do the same searches (if he has the most recent version of iTunes.)

Apparently we are now a small army of discontents, so hopefully we will get something done.

I suggest that those who write to Apple support provide them with a link to this thread. Can't hurt, anyway.

I know this has been brought into the discussion before. I tried to use iTunes 7.0 and still had the search problem.

In Internet explorer I went to the iTunes site. I proceeded to confirm installation of active x drivers/Plug ins where I was prompted. I don't typically use IE anymore.

I then added iTunes to my allowed sites and quit the application. Ever since I have been able to search like normal. Not sure why it was such a problem.

Hope this helps out. If that alone does not work try clearing the DNS with the Run Command ipconfig /flushdns

Good Luck.

I had the same problem recently after I changed my
Startup using the "msconfig" utility to stop
launching Quick Time at boot up.

I went back into msconfig to include launching Quick
Time during boot.

iTunes Store search now works perfectly. (I open IE
before opening iTunes).

Further to my last message, in addition to Quick Time, I also reactived iTunes Helper to launch at boot. I'm not sure if this is relevant.

I have been trying to access ITunes Store for the past 5 days to get my season pass paid up TV shows. It was fine as of 3/31/07. I got that generic response form from Apple and nothing on the troubleshooting helped.
I have Norton Firewall and turning that off did not help, either.I cannot access the store to even check my account-still get "network connection timed out"
Any suggesstions??
