Network connection timed out.

I'm unable to successfully use the iTunes Store. The following error occurs randomly, though it most often happen when searching and power searching, the progress bar on top will just never stop and the error message will display after about 30 seconds. It sometimes occur when browsing and clicking on links (the page will not load).

Here's the error message :
"We could not complete your iTunes Store request. The network connection timed out.
Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active, then try again."

My internet connection is fine, I'm 100% positive about that. Unless it would have to do with firewall settings?

Something weird I've noticed about all this is that the error seems to happen way more often when searching on less known artists/songs than well know.

I'm using Windows Vista.

Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks!

I actually had the search work today on more popular artists but not one that is a bit obscure. I don't know what to think because at home (home premium,7.0 and ie 7) I get the song, it partially downloads, then gives me the ol' 3259 high sign. When I go to my PC at work, which has XP, 7.1.1 and ie 7, the song will continue to download once I go to my cart. I do think it is on Apple's side; there are plenty of real smart people on this chat who would have figured out if it were a PC/firewall issue by now.

I hear what you are saying about loving the IPod but tired of the hassles; if my darling Shuffle dies I doubt I would replace it.

I'm getting the same annoying, frustrating message. Wrote to Apple support and they want more info. What more info is there? And this is from a company that wants to make their stuff is simple and easy to use? Hardly. Frustrating and infuriating is more like it. And to think I was considering replacing my HP with a MAC in a few months. No thanks. I'll stay with Windows...and will find a music store for downloads that don't drive their customers crazy with stupid error messages.

I tried iTunes 7.0 and had the same problem. In fact, that's when I first discovered this annoyance. I thought maybe it was Apple's not-so-subtle way to force me to upgrade to 7.1, thinking that it would solve the problem. It didn't. I see from the various postings here that this problem has been going on for a while, and Apple hasn't fixed it nor even acknowledge it. So much for good customer relations and trying to build loyalty. They've succeeded in breaking my confidence in them.

I am having trouble searching too and this has nothing to do with Vista since I have XP.

I'm getting a lot of blank results for well known artists, songs and albums.

I also tried downloading a song and repeatedly get a message that it "is no longer available it may have moved or changed price (from $0.99?!)"

Having the same problem that everyone else seems to be having and noticed the problem started right after the most recent upgrade. Just as I started this post, I noticed this subject has had 7,706 views, you would think that after a certain number of hits on a particular subject matter, a bell would go off inside Apple HQs. Lets hope this issue gets resolved real soon!!!!!!!

I am having the same issue as everyone else. It seemed to start as soon as I updated to the latest edition. I don't understand what is going on. I've tried everything Apple suggested and nothing. Up until this point I've had no problems with Apple, my ipod or iTunes. I hope there is an answer to this issue soon. Does anyone know if there is a way to go back to the itunes that existed before this upgrade?

same problems here and it does not apper to be a 7.1 issue. I had the same issue with 7.0 and finally loaded the latest hoping it would help - NOT. I have the issue with (sorry) lesser bands. U2, Hendrix always come up. Blues Brothers just for example, I get the time out error. I do not remember this happening 3 months ago. I hope it is resolved soon. I have IE7 with XP pro. and the diagnostic was all OKIE DOKIE

I've only upgraded to 7.1.1.5 a week ago and been having the same issues described by many on here. I never had this problem prior to upgrading, so I decided to roll back to version 7.0. Unfortunately, this did not resolve the issue.

I agree this only occurs when searching an obscure artist. This only proves to me the error is iTunes related and not with us.

I do hope they resolve this issue SOON---I have this burning desire to spend an insane amount of money at the iTunes store.

And its not only happening in the states. I'm in Australia and it is really annoying me. I can find songs through links on the main page but searching in the search bar is annoying as and I get the message that you all get. Every now and then after I give it a break I type something in and it comes up but then its like "pop" not a really long keyword. Then I try again and it doesn't work. Apple are really annoying me again - It didn't work with 7.0 and then I did the recomended upgrade to 7.1 and it still doesn't work. Any news?
