Network connection timed out.

I'm unable to successfully use the iTunes Store. The following error occurs randomly, though it most often happen when searching and power searching, the progress bar on top will just never stop and the error message will display after about 30 seconds. It sometimes occur when browsing and clicking on links (the page will not load).

Here's the error message :
"We could not complete your iTunes Store request. The network connection timed out.
Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active, then try again."

My internet connection is fine, I'm 100% positive about that. Unless it would have to do with firewall settings?

Something weird I've noticed about all this is that the error seems to happen way more often when searching on less known artists/songs than well know.

I'm using Windows Vista.

Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks!

"progression through regression!"

I really don't like that statement, as things need to go forward, but indeed you are correct it does apply here though we should not encourage it.

I have a dumb question but are these other sites compatible with the Shuffle? I am more than ready to give up on Apple and Itunes given their disappointing lack of customer support on this widespread issue.

I was going to buy an IPod for a present this weekend for a friend but am pretty much deciding against the purchase if he can't use it without major hassles.

When I saw the note about being a Firefox user I said to myeslef: yes, this is it, I too am a FF user.

I tried it, I tried various combinations of it, but... still can't connect to the iTunes Store (see my post http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=4325717&tstart=0#4325717).

One things puzzles me: using IE or FF, I go on the iTunes Store WEB page to perform a search. There I find the artist I was looking for (Proper Education if you are asking!). Once the album image shows, I click on it (see URL: http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewAlbum?id=212971662&s=14344 1) but I get an error message: "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage".

Is there a relationship between this IE error and the iTunes Store can't connect error?
