.zip icon not appearing...

I use The Unarchiver for all my zipping stuff.

If I have a .zip file on my laptop already, it displays the icon correctly (a brown parcel type icon).

However if I download a new zip file, the icon appears as the Mac OS X standard 'unknown' icon, the one that looks like a blank piece of paper.

Any suggestions on how to change it so all .zip files show properly? (Other archive formats like .tar show their icon fine.)

That is not a zip file that is .SITX which opens with Stuffit.

The correct icon for a zip file is a piece of paper with a turned down edge and a zipper on it. Choose any file or folder and right click on it (or control-click) and choose "make archive of..." the result is a .zip file.

Now get info on any zip file (Command-i) and make sure Under "Open with" BOMArchiveHelper is selected. Be sure you can open the zip, then use the "Change all" button.

EDIT: BOMArchiveHelper is located in /System/Library/CoreServices
