Optical drive problem? Is there some kind of Diagnostic?

When I insert a CD or DVD my MB spits it out, tried to insert slowly, fast, vertical , horizontal etc....

Is there any kind of diagnostic for the optical drive I could run and find out?

Well, I live on an island in the Gulf of Alaska, but it's being sent DHL, so it should get there rather quickly. I think the rep quoted me 7-10 days for repair.
