Ipod restore loop

My Ipod is stuck in a loop whereby when I restore it from Itunes, it completes then it comes back saying Itunes has discovered an ipod that needs restore etc etc. I am at Ipod 1.3.1 and Itunes 7.1.1. I have tried changing the drive letter, and stopping and starting the Ipod service in Windows.

Let the battery die and then give it another try.

I was having a similar problem with my nano. Tried everything but nothing worked. I even sent it in for service, received it back working only to have it go into the restore loop again after a month.

I let my battery die out and then decided to plug it into my computer for one last try before sending it out for service again. It took a minute to get some charge in it and get recognized by the computer, but then I restored the ipod and everything just worked from there, no more endless loop. For now I guess.
