MacBook stuck at 1ghz?

I'm a sufferer of the RSD issue who sent my machine off months ago for repair. Since I haven't used the machine for much more than web browsing. With the recent joost invites I hoped on to check it out on the MacBook only to find it unusable. The interface would not respond and it was so slow I was scared about performance on the mac mini. To my surprise the mini ran fine as did the iMac. Further investigation shows the cpu clock on my MacBook is set to 1ghz. After a few hours of testing it never seems to move from 1ghz regardless of the load. Any one have any suggestions of bumping the clock speed or am I going to be stuck without a laptop for another x weeks while someone else has a go at hacking away the problems with this unit.

I'm not sure I understand what you're asking, but if your Macbook is acting up, call AppleCare to get a proper diagnosis and resolution. You can change the processor in iMacs, but I think it's nearly impossible with MacBooks. If you dont like that speed in your MacBook, sell it and get a newer model, because you don't want to void your warranty by tampering around in there anyway. If it's supposed to be faster than that (in the specs, etc) then get it serviced.

Good luck!

No I'm not running it like that but I did just have the battery replaced a week or so ago because it didn't have a charge any more. I'm guessing there are no magic key combos that are going to help me with this just have to take it back yet again to the "genius bar". Thanks for the info there it at least lets me know that its probably yet another hardware issue and probably related to the battery issue. I noticed another thread asking about the apple care, I'm defiantly getting it for this unit.

There was talk on here a while ago that when your starting up the macbook if you press a certain key combo it would startup the macbook with the processor speed capped at 1ghz. This could well be your problem. People used to use this method to startup there macbooks that had RSD problem so they could retrieve files as the machine wouldnt get as hot as quick.

Right i found an article about it.

It sounds like you might be holding the power buttong too long when your booting your machine and your booting it into safe mode.
