Matte or Glossy for bad eyes?

I have problem looking at a screen with my bad eyes for long periods of time (near sighted, lazy eye). I had a Macbook Pro and sold it in January to go back to a PC (I am a mcse) but I really want to go back to a Mac again and just use Parallels when I need PC work.

I am not sure which is better for long periods of time, I work in a office with overhead lights then at ome i have a light next to me on couch. I have searched the net and this forum and opions are mixed but did not see any posts with people with bad eys looking at screen all day (but there are alot and mite of missed it)

Where's there doesn't seem anything scientifically definite, it does appear that the matte display is easier on the eyes for prolonged usage.

Yea, was at the Apple Store in Ohio and looked at both... You can see in the light the glossy one has ripples in it where the Matte does not. (prob the way the clear is reflecting the light. I have just ordered the Matte version.

I have pretty bad vision, where contacts.

I have had both a glossy MBP and matte and have to say my eyes have been hurting more looking at the matte finish only because the shimmer and graininess in the matte is much more pronounced than in the glossy.

The shimmer gives white backgrounds a sort of 'mirage' look and makes my vision blurry if i stare to long at a mostly white background.

thnking of trading it in for glossy even tho glossy has its fair share of problems like lighting issues and keeping it clean

I have fairly bad vision, with one eye significantly worse than the other. I don't typically wear my specs at the MBP.

I have the matte screen 15", and find that my eyes burn and water if I don't look away at regular intervals.

I had a glossy-screen MB for about one week, and this one was easier on my eyes. The reflection (where apparent) did get on my nerves; however, the color looked richer and smoother. This one died one week in, and was pronounced DOA. I then decided to go with the MBP on the exchange.
