There are several ways. The easiest is probably via Terminal.
Open /Applications/Utilities/Terminal.app and run the command:
<pre class=command>rm -r .(name of folder)</pre>
The 'rm' is the
remove command, the -r switch tells remove to work recursively (i.e. through the directory structure), and the .(name of folder) is the item to remove.

Create a new Finder window, put it in column view, and click the item in the Finder's sidebar with the house icon. Next, choose Go to Folder from the Finder's Go menu, enter the folder's name, press Enter, find the folder, throw it away, and empty the Trash.
