After iPod Restore iTunes doesn't recognize my Nano ! HELP!

My iPod was out of juice (and was telling me corrupted) and while i was charging it i downloaded the new iTunes 7.1.1. iTunes kept telling me to restore/reset ipod and i could not get past it. So thinking no problem i will just get my music back on the iPod after i restore. Now My Computer always shows my iPod but my iTunes will not recognize it. The funny thing is when i close iTunes and reconnect my ipod to the PC iTunes launches but doesn’t show my ipod. When i was restoring i'm pretty sure iTunes recognized my ipod. This is so frustrating and all posts i don't see a fix for the problem. Anyone have ideas -- i want to listen to music 🙂 I have also uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes 7.1.1 . I have tried putting iPod into disk mode. Please help anyone -- thanks,

YESH!! I just got it to work. I did this after all the things i tried. Not sure if everything was the trick but i will tell you what i did:

I went to iTunes 'edit' then 'preferences'

I then deleted the name under shared name. Then exit iTunes.

I then disconnected iPod and put into disk mode. Then reconnected in disk mode and it prompted me for shared name.... booom. Finally.

First read this: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305136 Even if there are no new drivers available for your computer, reload the USB driver.

Next, connect your Nano to your computer using a rear USB port on your computer and disconnecting all other USB devices except for your keyboard and mouse. If you have your Nano in disk mode and it shows up in My Computer, right click on it and then format it (FAT32, don't use quick format). After this, Restore it in iTunes.

Ok i will try that. It only sees it now in Disk Mode when connected. dam i thought i had it. Atleast i can get my music however.

If it works in Disk Mode but not regularly, then that indicates that the software on the iPod is defective. There might have been a problem with the last restore. Restore it again in Disk Mode.

Nope it still only sees it when im in disk mode. Any other ideas. I can however get my music and podcasts.
