pocketmac blackberry ical sync problems scared to sync again! help

I have a blackberry pearl and work off a G5 with OS 10.3.9. I downloaded pocketmac. When I tried to sync, the contacts/address book worked just fine. But the calendar is a mess! Some duplicates. Most everything synced with the time zone off. I double checked and corrected so both work off of central time zone -- then tried to sync again but it still wouldn't put the right times. None of my recurring events would sync to the phone, and in fact, they were then deleted from my ical (with the exception of the original entry.) It took me forever to correct the entries on ical -- then when i tried to sync again -- it was messed up again. So now I'm scared to death to sync. Is it because I'm using an old operating system? Or is there another issue? Please please help.

Welcome to Apple Discussions.

I have heard that pocketmac has a dubious reputation at best. I used it a couple of years ago with a previous BlackBerry and the experience was enough to convince me not to touch it again!

I think you might try looking at http://markspace.com/missingsync_blackberry.php I tried the beta version with my Pearl and it worked fine.

Good luck!

I wholeheartedly agree with Bernard's observation concerning PocketMac products* and would also suggest that you opt for the Missing Sync for Blackberry but, there are a couple of issues with that option. You must be running Mac OS X 10.4.8 at minimum to use it, and you must be using one of these supported devices:

• 7100 series
• 7130 series
• 7250 Verizon
• 7290 from Cingular or T-Mobile
• 7520 the Nextel model from Sprint/Nextel
• 8100 series known as the Pearl
• 8700 series
• 8703 series from Sprint/Nextel
• 8707 series
• 8705
• 8800 series

If your Blackberry is not one of those models, you'll want to contact Mark/Space before downloading and installing the Missing Sync for Blackberry. They indicate that other models may work, but have not been tested for compatibility.

If you are going to synchronize at all with Mac O SX, it is important to do so using the Sync Services framework, a technology not available with releases of the operating system prior to OS X 10.4.

*I own and once used one Information Appliance Associates or PocketMac product: iCal Printer. Great idea, but it hasn't worked properly since it was updated about 18 months ago, and I've gotten no response from them regarding the issue. My point: support—at least in my experience—is non-existent.

Yes, I would. Quite possibly, Mac OS X 10.4.x is the most important component in resolving your problem, because it includes the Sync Services framework.

Once you have updated to at least Mac OS X 10.4.8, you can download the Missing Sync for Blackberry, then read the User Guide, install it, and run it as a trial package. That way, you will be able to determine if it meets your requirements. Use this link to do so:

Look down the page for the section labeled The Missing Sync for BlackBerry and use the link beneath Available updates.
