Sounds like the same problem I'm having.
Have a first generation Shuffle, about a year old.
It has the latest update but it won't play my songs.
I plugged it into my computer, iTunes came up. I left it for a few hours. Then I came back, took it out, and tried to turn it on.
But the main and the battery level lights didn't come on and no music is playing.
Interesting note, when I press my battery level light the main green light comes on instead.

hey

well i have a first gen iPod shuffle and its not turning on either, no light turns on, when i plug it in to the usb port nothing happens, i've kept it in pretty good condition for most of its life, can any one tell me what might be wrong with my ipod

i'd had series of problems with it but untill now i was able to turn it on. after sliding the thing down no light would turn on but if i pushed the play button or the volume button it would eventually turn on but now it won't even turn on

when i plug it into the usb nothing happens, normally the batter indicator area would get slightly warm even after an hour's charge but this time nothing

no in plain old simple terms, It just doesn't turn on, no lights no music no nothing

if anyone could help me with this issue and help me to turn it on it would be amazing

thanks
thanks

Maybe it's just dead? That will happen, eventually, to all of them. My oldest is an Apr '05 one that's still going strong, thankfully, but I've already got its replacement on hand for when the time comes.

Really, there's nothing new to add. Plug it into a known good charging source and let it sit for a few hours. It will either take a charge and come back to life or it won't and, if it doesn't, there's nothing you can do about it.
