Disk Utility Asking for Admin Password

today i created a disk image to old some documents in securely. Since then to repair permissions on my mac hd tiger is asking for Admin name and password. I've been using my mac now for 8 months and in all that time i,ve never been asked for a password to repair permissions.
what happened is this the norm?

Mac Mini 1.83 Core Duo, Mac OS X (10.4.9)

Check whether your account is listed as an administrator account in the Accounts pane of System Preferences.

If your account is not an administrator account, a password will be needed before Repair Permissions can be used from the Disk Utility.

If your account is an administrator account, click the triangle next to Details, find the requested right, and post back with it.

If you are invoking the Repair Permissions function from the command line, an administrator password will be needed even if you're logged in with an administrator account.
