hi mate,
there should be no problem exporting AAF to PT with
logic. i do it all the time. it will always do it as
split stereo or mono. i am not sure why logic would
be removing -L -R from the files - that doesn't sound
right. mono files should be a cinch.
the name of the files are being preserved right?
Hi there!
The names are being preserved as far as the -L and -R suffixes. Ls, Rs and LFE are not altered. Exporting stereo files is no problem and a workaround could be bouncing left and right as stereo, but that is not possible when doing surroundbounces in Logic. I have changed the default Logic suffixes in order not to confuse ProTools which needs this naming to be able to treat a batch of 6 monofiles as one surround file. Possibly this wouldn't be an issue if I'd left the names alone, but I still think I should be able to choose the name of the files myself.
I have seen this unwanted renaming before, but only in region names where suffixes have been omitted. So the problem is not the omf or aaf export itself but Logic's automatic renaming.
I really wish Apple would implement a proper 5.1 handlig in Logic 8. The way it is now is really not worthy.
Spent the day spotting each 5.1 group of files into ProTools manually together with the sounddesigner. Not exactly efficient but at least I got to socialize 8-)
Thanks for the input!
Best regards,
Ginge
exporting them into PT should result them being
placed exactly as you saw them in logic, same order -
everything.
not sure this helps you much - only to perhaps check
pilot error is not involved. here is a case were it
might affect the import:
i found AAF to fail if the first audio file is before
the TC for bar 1. if it is exported to the AAF, PT
will spit it back at you.
