ASIO4ALL Drivers

Question

ASIO4ALL Drivers

I just recently switched to Mac systems. Back when I used XP it was really a must to have ASIO or else the latency would kill you.

I have heard ASIO drivers are not needed in Mac OS X. Is this true? And if not.. are there ASIO4ALL drivers available for MAC?

Apple uses core audio that is built into the OS no need for a Audio Stream drivers.

Even if you are using an external USB audio card (which is recognized by mac although manufacturer doesn't provide drivers for it) ?

It's a SoundBlaster MP3+

Mac recognizes it when plugged and it reproduces the sound as expected. I haven't tried recording with it yet.

I'm pretty sure that it is class compliant so it will work. The problem is creative doesn't support the Mac so no extra functions or software.

What usb device are you planning to use?

Of course many interfaces need a driver usually to add functions or set bit depth or sample rate.

Also there may be something that won't work but I would say that anything built in the last five years will work seamlessly with core audio.
