Panasonic DVD-S52EB-S DVD Player OSD?

Wondering if anyone has any thoughts, or experience, on this one:

Panasonic DVD-S52EB-S DVD Player, with upscaling HDMI output:

Looking at the OSD (On Screen Display) of elapsed time - hh:mm:ss during a chapter.

This unit gives the correct elapsed time display with both
(a) commercially pressed DVDs and
(b) DVD-Rs written in a Panasonic HD/DVD recorder,

but NOT with
(c) DVD-Rs authored with DVD Studio Pro and burnt with Toast on a Pioneer DVR110. (The elapsed time just shows as --:--:-- )

Naturally, these discs (c) above give an elapsed time display correctly with all other DVD players I have tried.

Tried all combinations of the DVD player setups I can find, and asked Panasonic customer support - nothing.
Ring any bells or provoke any ideas with anyone?

(I actually suspect slightly "off spec" authoring by DVDSP.)

"rings a bell" with me... i don't remember the model # of the dvd player though, but i seem to recall, any DVD that i made in SP, using encodes from Compressor, i would get the same results you are getting. but when i used encodes created from our MPX-3000, the display would show the correct time on the dvd player. by chance, are you encoding using Compressor?
