Macbook (Pro) : 6-cell or 9-cell battery ?

I was looking around on Dell's site and found that they offer a choice between a 6-cell or a 9-cell battery on their notebook computer. Is Apple using 6- or 9-cell batteries for the Macbook (Pro) ? Why isn't Apple offering this choice ?

The number of cells in a battery determine it's voltage since the cells are connected in series. The 15" MBP battery is a 10.8 volt battery according to the label on the battery. 10.8 volts divided by 9 yields 1.2 volts per cell which sounds right for a lithium ion cell. Perhaps the Dell is designed to run on a range of voltages. For longer life you would need physically larger cells not more of them.
