My wife's mac book's display turned rather fuzzy all of a sudden. Seems like the letters it shows have a little mist around them, as if i need new glasses.(which i don't). This happened after i let disk utility verify and repair the disk. The effect is reminiscent of the look of an old iBook i used to own (i assumed then it was getting old) This macbook is 5 months old.
Any suggestions as to how to fix it. I have already tried to calibrate the display but to no avail.
As LCD displays are not a projection technology, there is no way to adjust "focus". At it's native resolution, the image should always be sharp. The only thing that should make the display appear out of focus is if you changed the resolution from the default 1280x800. Other than that, perhaps cleaning the display with something that caused hazing of the finish. I'm not sure I see any reason doing a verify and repair disk would cause this problem.
Another thing ot check is make sure you didn't accidentally activate screen zoom. This is done by holding the ctrl button and using the mouse wheel or two finger the track pad.
Sounds as if your display resolution has been changed. Go to system prefs, under displays (or maybe monitors; I don't know because my system is not in english...) and make sure the display is set to 1280x800. The 1152x720 resolution looks exactly like what you're describing.
Cheers,
