Garageband and Acoustic Drum Triggering

Ok, I wasn't exactly sure where to ask this question so I've thrown it out to a few different places. For the most part this is just clarification. My primary desire is to record my band and make decent demos with the future potential of perhaps doing an actual record. As it currently stands, I have a Presonus Firebox, a mid-2005 iBook, 2 mics, and a small amount of operating cash.

The room we practice in is pretty small, so I've been able to get some functional stuff with just a room mic, but I'd like to increase the quality. With that in mind, I've started leaning towards taking the guitar and bass signal direct and using triggers on the drums to send midi signals to the comp where I can assign sounds to the input (ala Toontrack's Drumkit From ****). Now here is the question: can I actually send all those midi signals to Garageband and have it appear as differing software tracks or will that all converge into a single block (thus preventing me from assigning different sounds to the different parts of the kit)? Would software such as EZDrummer work to convert the signals PRIOR to sending them into Garageband? What is the best way to go about this?
