Switching tracks from Audio Left to Right, and just panning won't work.

Hello.
I've been using Audacity to record for quite a while, but am trying to feel out garage band with a few songs.
If I've recorded a track to stereo left, meaning the vocal mic was panned to the left initially, how can i create a duplicate track but with the vocals coming from the right? Meaning i would like an exact duplicate of the original track, just to hear it from the opposite side.

I can't just pan, because i pan to empty sound.

Audacity can just duplicate the track, and create a 'stereo right' track.
Does GB have a similar feature?

I am recording a stereo track, with 1 mic and 1 pickup. Both sources are panned full left or full right, so that very little echo is heard. I cannot split the two stereo tracks it seems (i don't mean a timeline split, just want two tracks from one).

once i'm in garage band, I cant seem to get the duplicate tracks to pan to the opposite side and still produce sound.

For the answer above, Do i need to switch the track to mono when recording first? It doesn't seem to do anything during playback after the sound has been recorded.

thanks for all the help
