Tomcat - Can't change from port 9006 - 80 in standalone

Hope someone can help with this one. I am running OS X 10.4 and have Tomcat 4.1.29 running in standalone mode. The default web page (and any applications I have) will run on port 9006 without issue. I can change to many other ports (e.g. 9019, 5300...) by modifying the server.xml as most documentation suggests.

However; when I put in port 80, or 8080 It won't work. (Seems to be a conflict but yet I can't find any thing running on port 80).

I am hoping something quick here but I am stumped right now.

Thanks for any assistance.

Thanks so much for the reply. Unfortunately, I am still not there.

I am in Tomcat Standalone only. I don't have Apache, JBOSS or any Web services running. So when I go to look for sites and the Performance cache these are not turned on.

The only service I have running is the Application server in standalone tomcat. I have no issue running Tomcat on port 9006 (and some other ports which I am not interested) but as soon as I try to change the server.xml to port 80 tomcat will no longer come up. (And no logs that I can find telling me what is wrong.)

I have seen some posts about using Tomcat and Apache together via AJP (I think) but I really would prefer to just run Tomcat by itself and use the server.xml to control the ports and such.

Any other ideas?

Much appreciated.

Jim
