Watching movies on the internet without downloading.
I subscribe to Netflix and can watch movies without downloading anything...on a PC. I hoped to find a way to do the same on my PowerBook G4. I like the Netflix "watch it now" feature. I know there are other sites (Jamman and others) where you can watch movies on your PC. How about MACs?
Youtube based movies should work on your Powerbook G4. Non-protected WMVs can be read with
http://www.flip4mac.com/ 's plugin as well as Microsoft Windows Media Player:
You may need
http://www.allume.com/ 's Stuffit Expander to open the .sit archive Windows Media works on.
Realplayer for the Mac exists.
Netflix's watch it now feature doesn't work on Macs, except Intel Macs with Windows installed, but hopefully they will fix that soon.
P.S. For future Powerbook G4 questions that I can't answer, please post to the correct forum (a subcategory of Discussions categories) after identifying your Powerbook G4:
(P.S. For future Powerbook G4 questions that I can't answer, please post to the correct forum (a subcategory of Discussions categories) after identifying your Powerbook G4: ) I thought that's what I did. When I posted it asked me which computer I had, G4 and which OS, Mac OS X 10.4.9. I'm not sure what I didn't do that I was supposed to?
Also, I've looked at film on Youtube and I've only found short clips. I'd like to relax and watch a flick sometimes...a full length film. I don't mind subscribing to a service (Like Netflix) just haven't been able to find any.
Reread my statement. I linked to the page identifying Powerbook G4s as Aluminum, Titanium, 15", 17", 12", and linked to the Powerbook G4 category. This is the PowerMac G4 forum. The PowerMac G4 is a tower computer, not a notebook computer. Note the header underneath the words "Apple Discussions"
The only service where you can watch movies from online to your Mac that I know of is Apple's iTunes Music Store. The Windows based video online services are more likely to be possible to view on an Intel Mac running Windows. The emulation for the G4 to run Windows is too slow to watch movies.
