Problems by using m-audio fw audiophile interface-what can I do guys?!

Hi everyone,

I've just installed my bedroom studio, and I have got the following problems:
1.If I adjust the level controller on my audiophile the system reacts seconds later adjusting the computers volume control in the same time
2. When I switch my computer (iMac 17" intel core duo), and the whole system (interface and monitor speakers) on, at the first time there's no sound, so I have to restart the system and turn everything on again to make it work.
I tryed to install the original favtory driver, but it was too old compare to my recent OSX version (10.4.8).
What can I do?Help please!!!

David

<quote>Got to disagree here. While fundamentally it is obvious that the quality of the M-Audio products pales in comparison to the other stuff that is available out there, I've used M-Audio interfaces in the past and had zero problems with them (other than the less than stellar quality of sound). Always kept my drivers updated to the latest versions, never hot-swapped the firewire port and had several drives daisy-chained off the interface. Never, ever had an issue.</quote>

You are one lucky guy,Brent.Lucky, very lucky.

Nice 'window dressing' OP (original poster)? But I'm down with OPP.

So admittedly M-Audio has such bad drivers that it doesn't even have a company to back them anymore. M-Audio is now Digidesign and if you really want to sort things out I suggesting starting at the source. You can at least try to get some better tech suppport from them, although they will redirect you, but M-Audio is usually not responsive and will try to send you back to Digidesgin, so you really have to force the issue.

Either that or send some degrading material straight to Avid the corporate chum themselves.

no no no.

incorrect.

They (M-Audio) have ALWAYS had bad audio drivers.I know,I worked woth several of their ENDORSEES over the years, and we could not get it to work LONG BEFORE AVID BOUGHT THEM.And we always got BAD TECH SUPPORT as well.

To blame Migraine-Audio: not only is it politically correct,it is also Factually correct,as well.

Cheers

mate, i can't speak for how they are now, but when i first bought their stuff it was a little delta 44 to supplement my audiomedia III. i thought it sounded pretty good and it was solid in OS 8 and 9. i then bought a 1010 and it has been as solid as a rock and sounding geat for years. out of curiosity i had it modded by black lion and i can hear the difference but not overwhelmingly so.

so far my experience of them does not tally with yours. not that i am especially moved to support them in any way particularly, but you do seem to have an axe to grind. i don't know what has coloured your experience exactly, but i haven't ever had any problems making anything of theirs work.

maybe the correct thing to say is 'i have had major problems with some of their stuff. some other people i have worked with have as well.'

m-audio is certainly not the first port of call i would point anyone to, but i just don't recognize them as being as bad as you say.

I understand that some people might not have trouble. But,again you are using PCI products,of which I know are not troublesome. Two friends of mine have the Delta 1010 and are very happy with it.

The only reason I hold a grudge,is that it is the ONLY company I have dealt with in over 12 years of audio production, that basically said "we do not care".My trouble ticket is still open and not resolved after a year and a half, and I see no reason to ever be treated like I was treated with them.I did not EVER get a reason as to why their equipment is faulty, nor did I get satisfaction,in other words they would not make an effort to refund my money, nor get a solution, nor even apologise for wasting so much of my time.I logged over 40 man-hours troubleshooting and trying to solve their problems. They blamed their new parent company instead.

Here's another good reason: Digidesign caught wind of them(M-Audio) blaming them (Digidesign) for a problem they had with FireWire audio drivers long before being bought out by Avid.

Do you know what Digidesign told me? STAY AWAY FROM M-AUDIO!!!

So I now stay away from them, and tell everyone to do so.If the parent company says "stay away"...wouldn't you?

No other company has treated me this way.None.I have always tried to be a good customer,be understanding when there are problems, heck I even do beta-testing occasionally for different audio companies,so that they can get objective feedback.I've tested for AMEK(Neve) and Summit Audio fro years, never with issues,as far as communication between us.

Cheers
