Question

help on how to install msn and uninstall programmes!

i'm sorry if i seem rather dim from this, i promise i am not, just have a PC conditioned mind and finding it hard to negotiate my Mac.
Firstly, when i try and install msn messenger it downloads the exe file, then when i try and open it it opens with firefox and doesn't actually set up, any help on how to address this would be GREATLY appreciated.
Also, how do i view the programmes i have installed, and more to the point, how do i uninstall them????i am utterly confused by this.
i am sorry if these are really common questions and you are getting sick of hearing them. any help would be ace.

Hi and welcome to Discussions,

first, you have downloaded the Windows version of the Messenger, you need the Mac version:

You can also use Adium X (which is a lot better then the MSN Messenger). Look here: http://trac.adiumx.com/wiki/AboutAdium

Uninstalling programmes in OSX is fairly simple:

When the programm has an uninstaller, use it.
When it has not, you can simply drag it to the trash and that's it.
Although with the this method, usually some Preference files are left behind, but that is not a great thing to be afraid of.
