iTunes Store won't open

Every time I try to open my iTunes store a message keeps popping up that says "the network connection timed out." I know that my internet connection is fine and i've tried restarting the computer. it won't even let me log in. does anyone know what to do?

Hey all, I have been having the same problems with connecting to the Itunes store for well over 3 weeks. Then I read this forum and saw that I was not the only one.
After reading what everyone has done to try to resolve this problem with no success I decided to try something that no one else suggested. And guess what? It worked!
All I did was disable my firewall and Viola! I was in within a second!
Hope this helps most if not all of you!
Good luck! 🙂

Is it still working for you with your firewall down? I tried that previous and it would not work. I have uninstalled and installed iTunes latest version and even reset my router because that was another suggestion from iTunes. I've emailed them several times and they are not acknowledging a problem at all despite all of the discussion threads.
Glad to hear yours is working now... still looking for a fix here.

I too was receiving the "connection has timed out" message when trying to open my iTunes store after updating to the new 7.3.2.6 version. It turned out to be caused by Norton Internet Security 2005(mine expired long ago and just sits unused). The following steps fixed the problem for my operating system:

1. Opened Norton Internet Security and click on Status and Settings tab.

2. Highlight Personal Firewall and then click the Turn Off button.

The iTunes Store opened up immediately after I made this simple change. I don't know if it will work for everyone but it worked with my version of Norton and Windows XP. Hope this helps!
