Song Info is locked, i cannot change it

when i download mp3's from the net at times and then add it to itunes i try to change the song/album information as the mp3 could have information i do not want ie comments state downloaded with blah blah blah, no album artwork, track info is just track 5, genre jazz
so i select all tracks in album, go to get info then delete comments, change genre to blues, add album artwork for all tracks, track 5 is of 16 tracks

then what happens is only 8 of the 16 change to what i wanted, the other 8 tracks stay as how i downloaded them, no album work can be placed upon them, track number, genre etc will not change.

how can i change this then? how can you lock/unlock track info then?

does anyone else have this prob??

In Windows Exploder, make sure the files are not Read Only. Select it, right click - properties.

And you did obtain these files legally, correct?

I have the same problem. I just got a clean install Dell Latitude and copied my iTunes library file from my old laptop onto it. I then connected the USB HD with my Library, set the Library default to the library, and started using iTunes as before on my old laptop.

Now, I can't change any of the Song Info like in the previous posts (and 99% of my music is MP3, ripped from my own CDs or vinyl conversions to MP3.)

WHat gives?

Nick
