I am trying to use a Wacom tablet (Graphire 4, USB) on my Intel iMac. After I install the software, the cursor moves erratically - basically useless in either mouse or pen modes. The tablet works fine on two G4 Macs and a MacBook. Any idea what I need to do to make it work on my iMac? Thanks.

Hmm. If it didn't work on the MacBook as well, I'd say you need to download the latest driver software from Wacom's web site (which might not be a bad idea anyway).
I have an Intuos tablet on my Intel iMac and it works great. I'm sure I downloaded the tablet driver from Wacom, since I never know how out of date the drivers on the CD are...
The only other question I would have would be to look at the Activity Monitor and see if there are any processes taking up a lot of the processor time. Also, make sure you've connected the table to the iMac directly. It mustn't be plugged into the keyboard USB connection for sure.
I've tried both the drivers that came with the tablet and the latest drivers on the Wacom site. Generally, nothing is running when I test the tablet other than Camino. This really has me stumped, as is keeping me from retiring my old eMac until I have a desktop Mac that can use the tablet.
I have the same Graphic pad and find that if the Graphics Pad is not plugged in the Activity Monitor still says the drive is running at over 50% of CPU usage.
It makes my MacBook Pro very slow and I don't use it on there.
I have a related problem with a Wacom Intuos 2 tablet. After upgrading to OS 10.4.10 (combo) on a G5 DP my Wacom occasionally stutters. With nothing more going on than the Finder the movement of the cursor (arrow) falls behind or hangs for a second. I'm always trict with updates: check permissions first, restart, update, check permissions, restart, check permissions. No peripherals connected. I've had issues in the past with Wacom drivers on another machine and downgrading to a lower version driver always helped. Now I've downgraded to 6.0.3. Performance is better but the problem isn't entirely gone. I reinstalled 10.4.10 but that didn't made much difference. I've tried connecting to tablet to my additional usb 2 card (Belkin) but no change. Zapped Pram etc. Any ideas?
It turns out that the tablet is very sensitive to stray RF. My router was against the wall in the next room. Moving the table away from the router fixed my problem.
Um...this may sound simple or stupid, but I had the same trouble initially and then I adjusted the mouse speed and bothe the mouse (which I hardly ever use) and the pen work just fine.
