Downloading podcast error message

I am unable to download any free podcasts. I subscribe successfully, but when I click "Get" a grey exclamation point appears immediately. The error message is "There was a problem downloading "the podcast" . The required folder cannot be found. Please check that the URL is correct and the connection to the network is active and try again."

I get this message everytime I attempt to download something on ITunes. I have disabled the firewall and pop up blockers. Nothing changes -- same error message. I use Mozilla Firefox as a browser.

Any suggestions?

I think this must be something to do with latest iTunes. I updated 4 days ago, no problems until then, now I get over half of my subscriptions (28 podcasts from many producers) downloading for awhile then stopping, err 404, err 3239, or never starting to download but showing in download area. Do not use Mcafee, or Kaspersky. I have Zone Alarm and AVG.

I just migrated to a Toshiba laptop and simultaneously upgraded to iTunes 7.5. As soon as I started to download podcasts, I started seeing this -3259 error.

Before I turned off my copy of AVG, I first turned OFF the simultaneous download option on the Downloads window. Viola! I was able to download my podcasts without the err=-3259 appearing.

So, I turned multiple downloads back on to see what would happen. I could see 3 processes going. The first 2 processes seemed to process okay. The 3rd process hung up at 0 KB transferred and eventually went to the err=-3259 state. A new 3rd process opened up and got stuck at the 0 KB transfer condition. Turning simultaneous downloads to the unchecked position allowed all of the podcasts to be downloaded, even the ones that were flagged with an error (after restarting iTunes, of course).

This appears to be a threading issue with this version (7.5) of iTunes, on my machine, at least. I went back to the old Dell laptop w/ iTunes 7.3 and performed the same podcast download with simultaneous enabled and AVG viral scanning in action. That version worked just fine and downloaded 3 podcasts at a time without error continuing over several scheduled downloads. When I see the error on the Toshiba, it always happens on the 3rd active download on the list.

In my opinion, Apple may have introduced a threading error, or possibly a memory management problem into the mix with its later releases of iTunes. Disabling simultaneous downloads may be another solution to try, if disabling your virus checker is a concern.

One other note. My old Dell is a single pentium processor. My new Toshiba has an Intel dual processor. That could also be a factor in the -3259 error. I don't have the time or the inclination to test it out (can you even install an older version on top of a new version). It might be helpful if others reporting this problem also report the version of iTunes and the processor they are running.

Yes, same here but with err=-36. Ever since upgrading to 7.5 (or possibly Tiger .11 as did these at similar time). Have successfully worked around but would prefer a fix!

Workaround is untick simultaneous downloads and manually delete the podcast files causing problems from downloads folder. Seems OK then, but more labourious than I expect from Apple, and distinctly a downgrade!

My podcasts seem to download when they want to. I keep getting a 3252 error message, which I can't seem to find any record of anywhere on the Internet. I also can't connect to the i-tunes store. I'm running XP with zonealarm security suite and BlackIce - I've tried disabling the anti virus and the 2 firewalls but this hasn't helped at all. One day a couple (out of about 10) of podcasts will download at really slow speeds, then the next one will stop downloading with the error "err= -3252"

I've flushed my DNS, I don't have any web accelerator and I'm at a loss as to what to do ! Can anyone help me?

I get the same error message on and on. I have tried several of the different solutions available on this thread, but all to no avail.

I have turned of all firewalls and anti virus programmes - didnt work out.

I have tried to use an older version (6. something) of Itunes than the most recent one (7.something) - didnt work out.

The strange thing is though - some podcasts work out fine. Im subscribing to two different podcasts which download without problems. Most others though wont cooperate and are not download-able.

Im at a total loss here.

I don't have Google calender sync running in the background. But since the upgrade to iTunes 7.7.1.11 I can't download any podcasts at all.

I get err -3259 for everything I try to download, I've tried:
- disabling my McAfee firewall
- stopping the McAfee service as suggested by Apple
- Allowing and disallowing multiple downloads
- downloading a podcast individually via iTunes Store
- downloading my subscribed podcasts

As I've read from previous posts, re-installing iTunes probably won't help so I'm not going to do that - unless anyone knows how to go back to a previous iTunes version?

Cheers
