I just downloaded the new Safari 3 for Windows beta. The install seems to have gone fine, but when Safari is launched, none of the application text shows, i.e. no menus, no right-click drop down text, no url, and none of the text on the apple home page.
Any ideas? Or is this just one of those beta quirks?
I downloaded the full version and I have the exact same problem... the app loads, but no text across the top or menus. I can mouse over and it highlights, or even expands down where a menu would be... but nothing is written there.
i have installed safari 3 on a windows xp machine and it works fine i dont know what the problem if with everyone else's works fine for me. basically ur running a ******** OS get a mac :P
no bus seriously try un installing and installing again
and bare in mind its a BETA so there WILL be bugs, thats what the little spider bug thing is for to tell apple.
Same Problem Here, Maybe it has to do with other languge MUI. By the way when you try to report a bug it just Crashes and sends the info to M$, Hahaha.
By the Way (2) : I installed it on 2 computers with xp pro, and downloaded both the safari only and the safari with quicktime, No luck either Way.
Fix this soon ! , please.
I just installed the Safari 3 beta on a fully patched WinXP Pro SP2 computer, and I am encountering exactly the same problem with no text showing up anywhere in the UI -- neither on web pages or menus or anywhere.
First I did the following. Open the Safari directory and found a directory called Safari.resources. I copied both Fonts that are located in that directory into windows. Closed restarted. STILL didn't work.
I then renamed the safari.resources to something else. Load the application get an Access Violation. (Clicked twice for the fun)
I can confirm that it works partially too... I can't see any text at mac rumors. Hoping someone can find the "real" fix to this problem. I'm sure its has to do with font/resource issue since It seem to partially work.
Followed your steps, and am pleased to say that Safari for Windows is now working properly - for me anyway. Good job at poking around to solve the issue.
