I have windows XP Pro and I downloaded Safari 3 because I am a Mac user and I wanted Safari on my XP machine. I crashes every time that I try to open it up. It pops up the box Safari has a problem do I want to send it to Microsoft. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I have the same problem. I also posted a thread, but that got no responses, so I guess I'll just post in this thread for now.
Seriously, I'm getting really disappointed with Apple lately. They need more testing done before they release software. The iTunes crash irritated me, but now that it is happening to another product of there's it's really starting to just tick me off. It's definitely making me think twice about buying a Mac...
My WinSafari crashes EVERY SINGLE TIME on the "My Settings" page of the Apple Discussions website (this one, duh).
- Click the My Settings link on the right menu ------>
- Start typing some text in any field, then press the following keys: TAB, DELETE, BACKSPACE (in no particular order)
- Guaranteed crash
I have the same problem when I try to access internet using proxy, seems that Modname: cfnetwork.dll is the problematic one, when the prompt asking for name/password for my proxy is entered, it crashed.
HI, I can prove this. Installed with my Administration account. Generated a new Account. On my Account Safari cannot be launched but with the new account it works like a charm. Great... 😟
I have no problem installing this beta on my PB 1.33Ghz as I closed all applications, did a repair permissions before and after installation, but Safari just crashed each time I opened it. I have uninstalled it and am now back to Safari 2. Whew!
This is the first Apple software which totally failed to run in spite of all the precautions I took before and after installtion...
I've installed on XP Pro running under Parallels 3.0, and sure enough it crashes straight away. This is on a MacBook Pro, so not exactly an old machine. Whether it's related to the VM environment I don't know, as there's also a proxy involved - I would have expected Safari to at least start up if it were a proxy issue.
Hi,
I think we've got another SSE instruction set error with Safari 3 for windows. It runs fine on a win xp sp2 Pentium 3 1GHz laptop but crashes on opening on a win xp sp2 Amd Athlon 900MHz and gives the same error as all the above comments.
I install it, and when I open it get nothing except a really slow Windows machine. Shows up in Task Manager. Only uninstalling it seems to free things up.
It's great on the Mac, but I can't run it on Windoze. 😟
Machine is a Dell GX620 Core Duo, XP SP2 with 1GB RAM.
Sorry about the French but Google do not have the knowhow to translate image txt yet 🙂
It a bad show for Apple. Why release something that does not work. If MS ever released IE for nix machines I bet it would work as sweet as a dream, but that would be because they have access to all code needed I guess.
I was really looking forward to Safari on my machine, I am not a fan of Firefox and IE7 but I use IE7 out of need.
Actually. I do not think Windows wants Safari to run on it's OS. Looks like they are scared 🙂 Comon Apple bring it on, let's have Safari for Windows working everytime.
