I can type accented letters on my machine.

Where do you try to type it?

Which keyboard layout do you use?

Which language does your Windows run in?

For example: á = ctrl fn160

How about alt + 0225?

How about if you switch to the US International keyboard layout and use its dead key combo, ' then a?

On Windows the US International layout uses the normal ', `, ~, ^, and " keys as dead keys to create accents. You first type ' (nothing happens) then a for á.

I have not tried it in Safari, but the alt+... method is not universally supported in all Windows applications. It is like ctrl+C, which copies text in most applications, but not all.

When I succeeded in typing accented letters in Safari I used a foreign keyboard layout (Swedish, I think). If you install a Spanish or French keyboard layout I am pretty sure it should work.

It is really wierd as Fireforx and IE recognize when
I type Alt FN(number combination)while Safari

Presumably this is just another of the bugs in this first beta release.

I would not bet much on this being fixed.

I guess that Apple's developers for some reason use their own text rendering engine, and it simply has no support for alt+... as input method. Safari can be a valid Windows app without it.

Do you know if iTunes for Windows supports that method, e.g. in the Get Info or Search fields?
