Tiping in á, é, í, ó, ú letters

Does anyone know why I can't type letters á, é, í, ó, ú, and ñ in Safari?

I have not tried it in Safari, but the alt+... method is not universally supported in all Windows applications. It is like ctrl+C, which copies text in most applications, but not all.

When I succeeded in typing accented letters in Safari I used a foreign keyboard layout (Swedish, I think). If you install a Spanish or French keyboard layout I am pretty sure it should work.
