iphone is not showing as mobile device in windows explorer anymore
Every since I upgrade to iTunes 9.0.1, anytime I would connect my iPhone 3GS and switch tabs under the iPhone entry iTunes would crash. So I decided to removed all the iTunes software and reinstall it. After I completed the install everything seems to work fine, iTunes dosen't crash anymore. However, I now have noticed that when I connect my iPhone it no longer appears as a device in windows explorer or in "Scanners/Cameras" under windows control panel anymore. so I can't copy my photos off the phone. I have tried different usb ports and uninstalling the "Apple Mobile Driver" but so far nothing has worked. Any other suggestions?
lol,
it works, after I deleted all the photos from iphone that weren't taken with it, iphone reapered in explorer and is accessible. thnx for the solution.
I just hope they'll fix that soon.
Same issue here. I could not get windows explorer to show my iPhone. Tried everything with the USB controllers, uninstall/reinstall; repaired and then later reinstalled iTunes. Nothing helped.
And of the the STUPID things -- removing all the photos that were NOT taken with my iPhone camera (photos sent in IM's and MMS) - And there it was --- my camera reappeared.
I can not believe that this is not a know issue and that Apple would let this stand as a bug.
What a PAIN! When I first got my 3GS, I was able to connect to my XP Pro PC with no problem... I transferred any photo I had in my camera roll without any issues. Then Apple pulls a Microsoft and "enhances" the software so it doesn't work any more. I don't really relish the idea of completely removing software/drivers or trying to delete the HUNDREDS of photos I have on my iPhone, saved from various sources, to "work around" the issue that Apple should not have created... What "feature" did I get in return for this frustration? WHAT GOOD is capturiing photos on a device, if you can't get them off of it???
Hey,
also from my side many thanks.
I tried everything during one week incl. check of all drivers and iTunes versions.
I tried it with Windows XP and Windows 7, but the solution is quite simple!!
It was only one picture which was not taken with the iPhone camera.
For safty reasons I deleted 3 imported pictures on my iphone and immediately the iPhone-icon showed up again in the Explorer.
Again bkbooth11, very helful post
I have tried this and I don't know if I'm missing a photo but its still not working on mine or my wife phone or either of our laptops this happened randomly as both were working since the last update. I have restarted, reinstalled drivers, etc. etc. nothing seems to be working??????????
ffjames22 I would email all photos to yourself so you have a backup and then start deleting them. You can test connecting as you go and see if your removed the offending photo.
FIXED IT!!!!! There has to be at least one photo in the Camera Roll in order for it to be recognized as a mobile device. If you have no photos in your camera roll e.g taken by the phone itself, just take a photo and when you plug it back it it should work.
