I'm running Apple Mail on Mojave and have noticed that every once in a while an email will show up in the inbox and when I click on it to open it disappears never to be seen again. Any idea what might be causing this? I just had one appear in my inbox and before I could click on it to open, it disappeared. Any advice would be appreciated.

Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at startup), does the problem occur in Safe Mode?
Safe mode attempts to repair Disks & clears lots of caches, so if Safe Mode works try again in regular boot.
If you have no POP accounts & they’re all IMAP accounts then in Mail’s Mailbox menu choose Rebuild.

My emails are all exchange and I'm not sure if that's POP or IMAP. I choose rebuild and it's doing that right now. I'll restart in safe mode and see if it happens again, although it seems like it only happens once or twice a month. Thanks for the advice.
