iPhone 4 PROXIMITY SENSOR GLOWING RED when on call!!!

I just posted a topic a few minutes ago about the proximity sensor and make some more test's.
I dimmed the light in my room in my last test, and I see the infrared emitter of the sensor glowing red (is very low, but is there!).
If I remember some electronics, when an infrared emitter emits visible red light is because it's receiving a too high current.

This can be a mayor problem, because the emitter don't would survive too much time this overcharge.
A this point, I believe that Apple solution to the issue may be allow more current pass to the emitter, maybe too much.

Anyone can confirm this? (also if you don't updated yet).
Many thanks to everyone.

And where EXACTLY do you see the "glowing LED"?

I just took a picture of my PS a minute ago. The light is very low intensity, and absolutely invisible to the naked eye. It definitely doesn't glow.

P.S.: I wouldn't trust any of the "pictures on the web" - any CCD sensor will record invisible IR spectrum and show it as ~white light depending on the intensity. Look at the pic above - The light you see is invisible.

If you read my post I said you can see the sensor but only just. But just because you can see visible light does not indicate a fault I have two large infrared flood lights for my security camaras and you can clearly see ever IR led emitting visible light and they are 10 years old and still working.

The point I was making is that there is no point taking photos of the sensor as it will appear 200% brighter than it really is

I checked my 2 IP4's; one upgraded to 4.1, the other not yet. Yes I can see the red glow (with my eye) on the 4.1. I guessed people complained the PS wasn't working well, so one thing is they up'd the current to the LED to give more range.

Not to worry. Most NIR LED's have a small emission in the visible too. This is normal. So you can see it now with more current drive. All the light levels went up...it is not 'burning' or glowing red!. But still the lifetime, even at these conditions, is 100K hours. And it is not on continuously (even when on, it is pulsed at Khz rates). I work daily with these devices, I know a bit about them.

100K hours is a long time. And with the 1 year warranty, if it fails, Apple will replace it.
